PURPOSE: This motion would authorize the County Executive to sign an interagency agreement with the Department of Commerce to receive funds for required period comprehensive plan updates.
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County is required by the Washington State Growth Management Act (RCW 36.70A.130) to update its comprehensive plan no later than December 31, 2024. The Washington State Department of Commerce has awarded Snohomish County $350,000 in state grant funding for fiscal year 2023-2024. Under terms of the grant Snohomish County is allowed to invoice work completed after July 1, 2023. Council approval is needed to authorize the County Executive to sign the agreement to receive the funds. These funds were included in the 2024 Budget. Numerous factors affected the completion of the agreement and have delayed getting to County Council. Expedited review of this motion is requested as the state fiscal year ends on June 30, 2024.
