EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  N/A

PURPOSE: To make a judicial appointment pursuant to RCW 3.34.100

BACKGROUND: On February 24, 2023, Council became aware that current District Court Judge Douglas Fair was resigning effective August 31, 2023.  Pursuant to RCW 3.34.100, the county legislative authority shall fill all vacancies by appointment.  The Council announced the vacancy on April 26, 2023 and requested interested parties submit a resume and letter of interest by May 17^th.  Council received applications from seven individuals who met the qualifications set forward in RCW 3.34.060.  On May 31, 2023, Council selected four candidates to move forward to the interview stage of the appointment process.  Interviews for this vacancy are set for June 15, 2023.  The effective date of the appointment is September 1, 2023.
