body

DEPARTMENT:  Health Department

ORIGINATOR:  Rhonda Smids-Osborne

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Lacey Harper (5/31/23)

PURPOSE: Enter into an amendment to increase funding amount and extend agreement end date with Washington State Department of Social and Health Services to assist recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to meet their goals and provide well-being for their family through the WorkFirst Program.

BACKGROUND: The Health Department is one contracted provider that assists with parent assessments for the WorkFirst program. A public health nurse from our maternal and child health program conducts the assessments when requested.  WorkFirst is Washington State’s program to assist recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to meet their goals and provide well-being for their family. WorkFirst is a collaborative effort with families, WorkFirst case managers, and local community and partner agencies to build a stable foundation for employment, provide employment and training opportunities, and ultimately serve as a gateway to financial independence.
