Title

Motion 23-194, authorizing approval of the agreement for Watershed Certification of the Snohomish County Food and Farming Center Project

body

DEPARTMENT:  Conservation & Natural Resources

ORIGINATOR:  Rachel Dotson

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved by Lacey Harper 5/10/23

PURPOSE: Approve Agreement with Salmon Safe.

BACKGROUND: Snohomish County will be developing a Food and Farming Center that will be a resource for our region’s fruit and vegetable farmers. This certification will support the Snohomish County Puget Sound Initiative which focuses on protecting and restoring Puget Sound, one of the region's most valuable assets. A goal of DCNR is to complete Watershed Certifications (such as Salmon Safe) where appropriate. This Salmon-Safe certification will provide guidance on the design and construction of the facility to support the overall health of North Creek, salmon habitat and water quality; and reduce polluted stormwater for a clean Puget Sound.  Parks and SWM have agreed to create a Reimbursable Services Agreement and SWM will pay the costs of the certification.
