PURPOSE: To obtain Council approval of a 4th amendment to a Contract for Legal Services with Shannon M. Ragonesi of the law firm Keating, Bucklin & McCormack (KBM) regarding the Aradon matter (C20-064).

BACKGROUND: The Prosecuting Attorney's Office (PAO) entered into a contract with KBM on August 25, 2020, to provide legal services for up to $50,000, related to the Aradon matter. Subsequently, the Council approved the first amendment on April 5, 2021, that authorized legal services provided by KBM for up to $150,000. The Council approved a second amendment on April 20, 2022, that authorized legal services provided by KBM for up to $250,000. The Council approved a third amendment on March 22, 2023, that authorized legal services provided by KBM for up to $300,000. Litigation of and resolution to the Aradon matter are taking longer than initially anticipated. Accordingly, the fourth amendment with KBM authorizes legal services for up to $400,000.
