PURPOSE: Approve motion of adoption for the Snohomish County Comprehensive Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Plan.
BACKGROUND: The Plan establishes a comprehensive system of programs to reduce waste generation, increase recycling, and maintain and improve levels of service in the solid and hazardous waste system. The Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) has been involved in development and review of the document throughout the process in preparation for submittal and approval. The SWAC endorsement is attached. Resolution of Adoptions from municipal partners are placed in Appendix I of the plan. Please note that Bothell, Index, Mountlake Terrace, and Woodway adoptions are in progress and will be added to the plan prior to submittal to the Department of Ecology. Final steps of the process include adoption by County Council, inclusion of partner adoptions, final SWAC review of recycling elements, and final submittal to the Department of Ecology.
