EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved by Lacey Harper 2/28/23

PURPOSE: To recommend the re-appointment of Katharine Cain to the Snohomish County Developmental Disabilities Citizen Advisory Board for an additional three-year term.

BACKGROUND: The Developmental Disabilities Board is comprised of citizens who serve in an advisory capacity to the Developmental Disability (DD) staff of the Snohomish County Human Services Department. The Board meets monthly and is comprised of up to 15 members, drawing from all areas of the county and a range of backgrounds, including family members, individuals with developmental disabilities, professionals and advocates. The Snohomish County Developmental Disabilities Citizen Advisory Board currently has 12 members and 3 vacancies.

Katharine Cain resides in Council District 1 and is a Special Education Teacher for 18-21-year-old students. Katharine holds a bachelor's in business administration and a Master's in Education.

Katharine Cain has years of experience teaching special education, and has experience working with families, Person Centered Planners, Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Developmental Disabilities Administration and the School to Work program.

Working closely with the Snohomish County Developmental Disabilities, Katharine has helped facilitate community resource meetings using the "Front Door Model" wherein community agencies collaborate to assess and deliver needed resources to families.

Ms. Cain is not a member of any other County board or commission.
