PURPOSE: To fill a vacancy on the Noxious Weed Control Board in District 4.
BACKGROUND: The Noxious Weed Control Board was created to adopt rules and regulations necessary for an effective county weed control and eradication program. It is made up of five members, each of whom represents a specific geographic Weed Control District, and an at-large ex-officio member. Ms. Burke submitted an application to be a member of The Noxious Weed Control Board. She lives in Snohomish, which is in District 4. Ms. Burke graduated with a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington. She is currently working as a Tribal Affairs Manager for Puget Sound Partnership. She has experience in restoration projects and is interested in noxious weeds impacts on the ecosystem. Her agriculture background includes raising Percheron horses and Nubian goats. Ms. Burke’s commitment to agriculture and the ecological stewardship makes Lea Anne an excellent Noxious Weed Control Board candidate. Pursuant to SCC 2.030.030, County Executive recommends the appointment of Ms. Burke to a 4-year term expiring 12/31/2026.
