PURPOSE: Transfer Police Service K-9 Riggs to the Arlington Police Department
BACKGROUND: The Sheriff’s Office uses trained police dogs to assist in fulfilling its mission. K-9 Riggs is currently a Sheriff’s Office police dog. The handler for K-9 Riggs has left the Sheriff’s Office and that handler position will not be backfilled at this time. K-9 Riggs still has many years of useful service left. The Arlington Police Department has a need for a K-9 and has offered to accept transfer of K-9 Riggs so the police dog can continue its law enforcement mission. K-9 Riggs will be transferred to the Arlington Police Department and will become property of the Arlington Police Department by virtue of this surplus property transfer agreement.
