PURPOSE: To obtain Council confirmation of Dennis Worsham as the Director of the Health Department.

 

BACKGROUND: Dennis Worsham was selected as Health Department Director after an exhaustive recruitment process. Dennis’ experience includes over 29 years in public health. He was most recently the interim director of Public Health -Seattle & King County, a metropolitan health department with over 2,000 employees. Prior to his role as interim director, Dennis led the department’s Prevention Division, which delivers communicable disease prevention and health promotion services. Dennis has experience in public health, policy development and advocacy. He previously served as the Deputy Secretary for Health at the Washington State Department of Health, and various positions at Public Health - Seattle & King County including Deputy Director, Chief of Policy, Community Partnerships, and Communications, Regional Health Officer, and TB Control Program Manager. Dennis has also been the HIV/STD/Hepatitis program manager at Snohomish Health District, where he also was a health educator for several years.
