ITEM TITLE:

Title

Motion 22-513, authorizing approval of Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for Professional Services with Timber Framers Guild, for Design, Engineering and Construction Management of Timber Framed Park Structures at Snohomish County Park Properties

body

DEPARTMENT:  Parks and Recreation

ORIGINATOR:  Connie Price & Thomas Hartzell

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved by Lacey Harper 11/28/22

PURPOSE: A request to County Executive for Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Timber Framers Guild for to provide design, engineering, construction drawings and construction management of community-built timber framed structures for the additional scope of work and budget for the SR530 Memorial Site provided as Exhibit A & B in the amendment

BACKGROUND: Parks has experienced a good working relationship with Timber Framers Guild and wishes to continue on this path. They are a non-profit educational membership association dedicated to the craft of timber framing. It serves as a center of timber frame information and design for professionals, afficionados, and the public. Participation by park neighbors and members of the community in the construction of the frame will create a strong sense of ownership and encourage bonding within the community.  For the SR530 Memorial, the Timer Framers Guild is the style and method of construction that complements the overall aesthetic and with the benefit of community involvement. At the time of the original contract the concept was not yet established. This amendment addresses those shortfalls.
