PURPOSE: Executive signature on the 2022-2023 Washington Auto Theft Prevention Program Supplemental Grant Award
BACKGROUND: In 2007 the Washington State Legislature passed House Bill 1001. Among other things, the legislature created the Washington Auto Theft Prevention Authority (WATPA) for the purpose of assisting local governments in proactively dealing with auto theft. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office was awarded a total of $1,635,745 for the period of July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2023. Supplemental money was approved for WATPA in the most recent WA State Legislative Session. Snohomish County has been awarded $247,985 in supplemental funding from WATPA for Public Outreach, Training, Technology and Personnel/Professional Services. No matching funds from the County are required; the Sheriff is requesting approval of the grant award.
