PURPOSE: For the remainder of the year as Snohomish County and Snohomish Health District partner to create a new County department of health, this approved agreement protects the parties’ mutual interests.
BACKGROUND: County Council approved Motion 22-248 June 8, 2022, to authorize notice of intent to withdraw from the Snohomish Health District December 31, 2022, to allow for the establishment of a new health department. Recognizing the benefits of a commitment to collaborate, combine resources, strengthen abilities to address health issues, improve access, increase opportunity and efficiency, while unifying and strengthening community resources, the Council authorized the Motion to move the Health District in whole to Snohomish County. The Common Interest, Non-disclosure, and Joint Defense Agreement is a step toward ensuring open sharing of information to allow for successful planning to meet the commitment to move the Health District as a whole to a new Snohomish County Department.
