PURPOSE: Council Approval and Executive Signature on the Agreement for Professional Services with Northwest Helicopter, LLC to provide helicopter purchase brokerage services.
BACKGROUND: The County’s current 1968 Hughes 500P observation helicopter (SnoHawk 1) is approaching the end of its useful life and the airframe needs to be replaced. A small, light search/Law Enforcement helicopter is needed to conduct Search operation for Search and Rescue missions. It is also critical in supporting patrol and SWAT with the FLIR Camera, Live Video Downlink and Searchlight capabilities. All this special equipment can be transferred over to a newer airframe. Funding was approved for the replacement in the 2022 budget; RFP 22-026BC was issued to provide broker services to the County for the purchase of a used MD 500E helicopter.
