PURPOSE: To recommend the appointment of Anthony Fletcher to the Snohomish County Children’s Commission.
BACKGROUND: The Children’s Commission was created to advise the County on “issues of health, safety and social services for infants, young children and youth in the community.” It is composed of 25 members, including at least two youth commissioners. Three members are appointed from each council district, while the remaining ten at-large appointees may reside anywhere within the county. Commissioners serve four-year terms with the exception of youth commissioners, who serve one-year terms. Commissioners may not serve more than three consecutive terms. The Snohomish County Children’s Commission currently has 14 members and 11 vacancies.
• Mr. Fletcher resides in Council District 2. This appointment represents an at-large representative
• Mr. Fletcher is currently a City of Everett Police Department Sergeant leading the Gang Response Unit
• Mr. Fletcher facilitates intervention and prevention programs for at-risk youth and families
• Mr. Fletcher has well established professional relationships with organizations that serve youth
• Mr. Fletcher is not a member of any other County committee or council
• Mr. Fletcher is recommended for an initial four-year term upon appointment
