PURPOSE: To approve a 2nd amendment to an initial 2020 contract for legal services and subsequent 2021 1st amended contract for legal services with Keating, Bucklin & McCormack involving the civil case, Dold v. Snohomish County.
BACKGROUND: The County entered into a contract for legal services with Keating, Bucklin & McCormack on April 7, 2020, for the litigation of Dold v. Snohomish County. The initial contract stated that the cost of legal services was not to exceed $50,000. On December 15, 2021, the County approved the 1st amended contract for legal services in which legal services were not to exceed $150,000. As litigation continues, the Prosecuting Attorney is requesting the County approve a 2nd amended contract in which legal services are not to exceed $250,000.
