PURPOSE: Reappointing one member to the Snohomish County Agricultural Advisory Board representing the Stillaguamish River Basin position 10.

 

BACKGROUND: 1.                     Chapter 2.06 SCC establishes an Agricultural Advisory Board (Board) as an advisory body to the County Council, Planning Commission, Hearing Examiner, and County Executive that makes recommendations concerning agricultural lands and issues in Snohomish County. 2.                     Snohomish County Charter Article 2, Section 2.20, authorizes the County Council to confirm members of the Board nominated by the County Executive.      3.                     The term of the Board member serving in Position 10 expired on April 19, 2022, and this Board member has not reached the limit of the terms that can be served according to SCC 2.06.030 which allows a person to serve up to twelve consecutive years on the Board.  Position 10 is currently held by this candidate.   5.                     The County Executive recommends the appointment of David Youngquist to Position 10.  6.                     The nominees fulfill the requirements for their respective positions, reside in Snohomish County, and are engaged in commercial agricultural activities in the county, consistent with SCC 2.06.020(1) and (3).
