PURPOSE: To recommend the appointment of Lark Kesterke to the Snohomish County Children’s Commission.
BACKGROUND: The Children’s Commission was created to advise the County on “issues of health, safety and social services for infants, young children and youth in the community.” It is composed of 25 members, including at least two youth commissioners. Three members are appointed from each council district, while the remaining ten at-large appointees may reside anywhere within the county. Commissioners serve four-year terms with the exception of youth commissioners, who serve one-year terms. Commissioners may not serve more than three consecutive terms. The Snohomish County Children’s Commission currently has 8 members and 17 vacancies.
* Ms. Kesterke resides in Council District 2
* Ms. Kesterke is currently the Program Manager for Within Reach, with a focus on access, birth to 5 years services statewide
* Ms. Kesterke has 16 years’ experience with the Snohomish County non-profit sector
* Ms. Kesterke is not a member of any other County committee or council
* Ms. Kesterke is recommended for an initial four-year term upon appointment
