PURPOSE: Approval and authorization for the County Executive to execute Critical Area Site Plans for the SR 530 Slide Memorial project. Mitigation was required per SCC Chapter 30.62.
BACKGROUND: The SR 530 Slide Memorial project was approved for construction by the Snohomish County Council in the 2022 CIP. The project is planned to start construction in 2022. A Critical Area Study (December 2021) was required which called for designated protection sites that would be left permanently undisturbed in a substantially natural state. A portion of the project property was chosen for habitat protection adjacent to the memorial development. To permanently protect the properties, Critical Area Site Plans are required to be approved by the Snohomish County Council and recorded with the Snohomish County Auditor.
