PURPOSE: Approval of a budget transfer within General Fund 002 Dept 16 to General Fund 002 Dept 32 Office of Public Defense
BACKGROUND: The Office of Public Defense is experiencing an increase in violent offense caseloads, increased costs associated with aggravated murder cases, and a corresponding increase in expert witness services needed to support the increased violent offense and aggravated murder caseloads. The increased caseload costs will result in the Office of Public Defense being over the adopted 2021 budget authority; therefore, a budget transfer of $250,000 is being requested to ensure adequate authority for 2021.
