PURPOSE: Approve and authorize the County Executive to execute the Washington State Department of Commerce CSBG grant agreement.

The Washington State Department of Commerce has awarded Snohomish County $542,177 for the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) for the period October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2022.
This Agreement with Washington State Department of Commerce, provides funding to eliminate/reduce the causes and impact of poverty. CSBG funds, in accordance with federal law, are used to address local priority needs determined through a low income needs assessment. Needs being addressed are: homeless housing and support services, affordable housing construction and rehabilitation, and community services. CSBG funds are used to administer Community Action programs, oversight of tripartite board, data collection and reporting, and perform the local community needs assessment,
This agreement was included in the 2020 Human Services Department Grant Work Plan (GWP). The total exceeds the amount included in the GWP by more than $50,000 and now requires Council approval.
