PURPOSE: 2021 - Historic Preservation Grant Recommendations
BACKGROUND: Ordinance 08-119 authorizes the County to administer a Heritage Preservation program to allocate revenues accruing under provision of RCW 36.22.170. These funds designate a share of document recording fees to the promotion of historic preservation. The Snohomish County Historic Preservation Commission established grant criteria and an application process to distribute the funds throughout the historical preservation community. These funds are fully budgeted under the Historic Preservation sub fund in the General Fund. The Board recommends awarding $66,831to eight (8) qualifying projects. Although only $50,000 was budgeted for 2021 grant, the Snohomish County Historic Preservation Commission voted to fully fund all requested grants in recognition of the difficulties of the past year. The Snohomish County Historic Commission approved the additional $16,831 to be moved from funding for the 2021 Historic Buildings and Structures Inventory project.
