PURPOSE: To recommend the reappointment of Becky Megard to the Snohomish County Children’s Commission.
BACKGROUND: The Children’s Commission was created to advise the County on “issues of health, safety and social services for infants, young children and youth in the community.” It is composed of 25 members, including at least two youth commissioners. Three members are appointed from each council district, while the remaining ten at-large appointees may reside anywhere within the county. Commissioners serve four-year terms with the exception of youth commissioners, who serve one-year terms. Commissioners may not serve more than three consecutive terms. The Snohomish County Children’s Commission currently has 15 members and 10 vacancies.
• Ms. Megard resides in Council District 1
• Ms. Megard is currently the Chief Program Officer for Domestic Violence Services for Snohomish County
• Ms. Megard has thirty years experience working with high-risk children and the effects of domestic violence on children
• Ms. Megard is recommended for a second four-year term upon reappointment
