PURPOSE: To amend code for the creation of a Department of Economic Development
BACKGROUND: Within executive departments as currently organized, there are multiple programs and sectors working on issues related to economic development. Currently Snohomish County Economic Development Initiative sectors include Trade and Business Development; Aerospace; Agriculture, Fisheries, & Forest Products Industry; Technology; Military and Defense; Recreation and Tourism; Energy and Sustainability; Arts, Culture, & Film; and Education, Life Sciences & Global Health are all housed in separate departments. Placing these different offices and programs into one department will create greater opportunities for collaboration, synergy, and efficiency
