PURPOSE: This Critical Area Site Plan complies with the requirements of the Critical Area Study dated July 2013 in connection with the Swamp Creek Bridge 504 Replacement (RC1633) Project. Compensatory mitigation is required per Chapter 30.62A SCC (Fish and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Areas).
BACKGROUND: The Swamp Creek Bridge 504 Replacement Project, hereinafter “the Project,” was approved for construction by the Army Corps of Engineers in January 2016. As part of the regulatory permitting process, a Critical Area Study dated July 2013 was required in order to construct the Project. The Study and Plan called for a compensatory mitigation site that would be left permanently undisturbed in a substantially natural state. Parcel 00374100100204 was chosen as the compensatory mitigation site for the Project’s impacts to critical areas. Permanent protection of this mitigation site requires approval by the Snohomish County Council and recording of a Critical Area Site Plan with the County Auditor.
