PURPOSE: Ordinance Relating to Layoff and Recall Provisions of Personnel Rules; Amending Chapter 3A.10 SCC
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County Code Chapter 3A.10 provides for Layoff and Recall procedures for classified employees. This includes priority placement for laid off employees. Currently, this priority placement consideration only applies after employees who are subject to layoff have been separated from County employment. This ordinance would allow those priority placement considerations to apply to employees who are subject to layoffs before they are officially laid off. Additionally, this ordinance provides some clean-up of language to make the process and rights clearer for better understanding and consistent application.
