PURPOSE: To recommend the appointment of Dennis Wheeler to the Snohomish County Council on Aging.

 

BACKGROUND: The Snohomish County Council on Aging exists to advise, assist, and advocate for older persons and adults with disabilities in Snohomish County by keeping the County Executive and other elected officials apprised of the concerns and needs of the older populations.  Additionally, COA assists and guides the work of the Long-Term Care and Aging (LTCA) Unit in fulfilling its stated missions, supporting ongoing evaluation of program services, and policy involved in the implementation of the Snohomish County Area Plan on Aging.

Dennis Wheeler served on the COA from January 2016 through September 2019 and returned in January 2021. Dennis was elected and accepted the COA Chair position 2018.  Dennis created a COA mentor program and is adept with training and orientation of new COA members.  Dennis was a devoted volunteer with the AARP Fraud Watch Network.

Dennis Wheeler is currently serving on the COA and the Chemical Dependency Mental Advisory board.
