ITEM TITLE:

Title

Motion 26-119, approving the Distribution of Vessel Registration Fees Agreement with the City of Everett

body

DEPARTMENT:  Sheriff’s Office

ORIGINATOR:  Dawn Cicero

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved by Alesandra Szebenyi 3/2/26

PURPOSE: Approve Agreement

BACKGROUND: Washington State adopted RCW 88.02.650 and WAC 352-65-050(2) to provide for the collection and distribution of vessel registration funds to counties with approved boating safety programs. The Sheriff’s Office has a state approved boating safety, education and enforcement program. The County adopted SCC 4.83.030 to facilitate acceptance of vessel registration funds distributed by the state in accordance with RCW 88.02.650 and WAC 352.65-050(2). WAC 352-65-050(2) requires the County to share the vessel registration funds with local jurisdictions within the County that have approved boating safety programs. Everett has such a program and has agreed that its equitable share is 40% distribution to the County.
