Executive/Council Action Form (ECAF)
ITEM TITLE:
Title
Motion 25-389, authorizing the Executive to sign Amendment No. 1 for naloxone distribution between Snohomish County and City of Arlington
body
DEPARTMENT: Health Department
ORIGINATOR: Rhonda Smids-Osborne
EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved by Lacey Harper 8/20/25
PURPOSE: Enter into an amendment with City of Arlington for the distribution and acceptance of naloxone. Prior to its integration into Snohomish County, the Snohomish Health District entered into an agreement with the City of Arlington and wishes to continue our partnership and continue the distribution and acceptance of naloxone with first responders.
BACKGROUND: The opioid epidemic is a public health, safety, and economic crisis impacting all communities within Snohomish County and resulting in a significant loss of life to residents. In exchange for data regarding opioid overdoses occurring within the county, the Snohomish County Health Department currently provides naloxone to partner jurisdictions that respond to opioid overdoses within Snohomish County. This opioid overdose data is used to track areas of high demand for naloxone in order to shift naloxone resources to those areas as those areas change over time. The Health Department recognizes the public health, safety, and welfare benefits of promoting wider availability of naloxone within Snohomish County.
