ITEM TITLE:

Title

Motion 26-092, approving the purchase of traffic data collection equipment from Jamar Technologies, Inc.

body

DEPARTMENT:  Public Works

ORIGINATOR:  Julie High

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved by Tom Teigen 2/11/26

PURPOSE: Approval of Motion to Purchase of Traffic Data Collection Equipment from JAMAR Technologies, Inc.

BACKGROUND: Public Works regularly monitors traffic volumes on streets and intersections to monitor trends and facilitate decision-making about the use of traffic control devices and street calming installations. The equipment used to measure traffic and pedestrian volumes is out of date and the manufacturer is no longer available to service equipment in need of repairs; JAMAR Technologies, Inc. was one of four firms responding to RFP-25-0416RB-S and was selected through established federal, State and County policies and practices; Council’s approval of this motion will allow Public Works to issue a Purchase Order to obtain traffic data collection equipment from JAMAR Technologies, Inc. A Purchase Order is the appropriate contracting tool for this purchase because the vendor is not providing any services to Public Works, just the off-the-shelf purchase of equipment.
