PURPOSE: Reappoint Christine Frizzell to the Sound Transit Board of Directors to serve a four-year term.
BACKGROUND: The appointment of Board members is specified in the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) legislation. It states that each member of the board, except the Secretary of Transportations, shall be: an elected official who serves on the legislative authority of a city or as a mayor of a city within the boundaries of the authority; or (b) on the legislative authority of the county, if fifty percent of the population of the legislative official’s district is within the authority boundaries; or (c) a county executive from a member county within authority boundaries. County Executive Dave Somers is pleased to recommend reappointment of Christine Frizzell, Mayor of the City of Lynnwood, to fill the position she currently serves on the Sound Transit Board of Directors for the four-year term beginning January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2027. Her original appointment to the Board was to fill a vacant position beginning February 1, 2022. Through her work in the community as well as being an elected official, Mayor Frizzell brings valuable skills to the work of the Sound Transit Board of Directors.
