PURPOSE: To recommend the reappointment of Argelia Grassfield to the Snohomish County Children’s Commission.
BACKGROUND: The Children’s Commission was created to advise the County on “issues of health, safety and social services for infants, young children and youth in the community.” It is composed of 25 members, including at least two youth commissioners. Three members are appointed from each council district, while the remaining ten at-large appointees may reside anywhere within the county. Commissioners serve four-year terms with the exception of youth commissioners, who serve one-year terms. Commissioners may not serve more than three consecutive terms. The Snohomish County Children’s Commission currently has 15 members and 10 vacancies.
• Ms. Grassfield resides in Council District 1
• Ms. Grassfield is currently the Regional Director of Administration for the YWCA Seattle/King County/Snohomish County
• Ms. Grassfield currently serves as the Children’s Commission representative to the Chemical Dependency and Mental Health Program Advisory Board
• Ms. Grassfield is recommended for a third four-year term upon reappointment
