EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved
PURPOSE: To obtain Executive approval of Change Order 32 to Marpac Construction.
BACKGROUND: The County and Marpac Construction entered into an agreement on December 18th, 2024, for the construction phase of the New Start Center of Everett. The bid allowance for the exterior walkway has been exhausted due to the replacement of the western stairway at Building A and the replacement of the load-bearing columns and beams. The second level columns at Building A were all replaced due to previous weather damage, which could not be assessed until the decorative covers had been removed. The railings were structurally tied to the columns and also had to be removed. The design, engineering, and construction teams accessed several options for the replacement railing. The selected system was the most cost effective. The railing can be replaced while other work is occurring at Building B.
