PURPOSE: To recommend the appointment of Jason Turner to the Snohomish County Children’s Commission.
BACKGROUND: The Children’s Commission was created to advise the County on “issues of health, safety and social services for infants, young children and youth in the community.” It is composed of twenty-five (25) members, including at least two youth commissioners. Three members are appointed from each council district, while the remaining ten(10) at-large appointees may reside anywhere within the county. Commissioners serve four(4) year terms with the exception of youth commissioners, who serve one-year terms. Commissioners may not serve more than three (3) consecutive terms. The Snohomish County Children’s Commission currently has eleven (11) members and fourteen (14) vacancies.
• Mr. Turner resides in Council District 4
• Mr. Turner is currently a small business owner
• Mr. Turner is the Administrator of the Mill Creek Preschool Company
• Mr. Turner is not a member of any other County committee or council
• Mr. Turner is recommended for a first four (4) year term upon appointment
