PURPOSE: To fill a vacant position within the Airport Commission.
BACKGROUND:
Q The Airport Commission was established by Ordinance 17-003 on March 29, 2017.
Q The Airport Commission acts as an advisory board to the Executive.
Q The Airport Commission is composed of thirteen (13) members consisting of one person from each council district, three persons from the airport tenant community, three persons from the business community, and two persons from the county at large.
Q As a resident of Council District 1, Dave Grudin represented the district on the Airport Commission.
Q Mr. Grudin has resigned and Gregg Ortega, also a resident of Council District 1, has applied to represent the district on the Airport Commission.
Q Mr. Ortega has been very involved with the airport. He helped to bring commercial air service to Paine Field and is on the Washington Pilot’s Association Board of Directors. Mr. Ortega is also involved in various charitable organizations and activities within the community. It is recommended that Mr. Ortega fill the vacant Council District 1 position for the balance of the term which is set to expire January 31, 2022.
