ITEM TITLE:

Title

Ordinance 25-075, relating to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee, Chapter 7.34 SCC, and amending Chapter 7.34.020 SCC

body

DEPARTMENT:  Public Works

ORIGINATOR:  Jo-Anne Antoun

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Approved (Ken Klein 10/23/25)

PURPOSE: To amend the SWAC Committee composition to include representation from commercial Organics firms in Snohomish County.

BACKGROUND: The amendment adds two new member positions representing commercial organics firms-one voting and one non-voting-to ensure that organics management is formally integrated into the committee’s structure. This addition provides industry expertise in composting, food waste reduction, and other organics-related operations, supporting compliance with state organics diversion mandates and advancing sustainable solid waste strategies that reduce landfill dependence and greenhouse gas emissions.
