PURPOSE: To obtain Executive approval of Change Order 39 to Marpac Construction.
BACKGROUND: The County and Marpac Construction entered into an agreement on December 18th, 2024, for the construction phase of the New Start Center of Everett. The contractor discovered the existing wiring for the back building could not be relocated the few feet required to accommodate the new electrical gear upon starting demolition of the existing electrical gear. The existing gear was atypically set up to feed from the top left, near the center of the building. Electrical gear is typically installed to feed at the side closest to the exterior of the building, in this case the right side. The entire project team explored several alternatives. Field modifying the gear has the least impact to the schedule and costs. The change order proposal has been negotiated down $1,288. The electrical requirements for the electrical dryer were incorrect on the bid documents. The engineer referenced the dryer for the Edmonds locations, which is primarily gas, rather than the higher electrical load required for Everett. The revision was issued with other changes during construction. The contractor initially missed the feed to the electrical dryer with those revisions. The revision was identified recently in the field. The cost of the change has been negotiated down by $8,565.
