PURPOSE: To provide the County Council with a quarterly report regarding the work conducted by the Crossroads Unit in the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for the first quarter of 2021.
BACKGROUND: Per Council’s approval of the Prosecuting Attorney’s 2020 Priority Package request seeking additional FTEs for the office’s Crossroads Unit, the Prosecuting Attorney is required to submit quarterly reports describing the Unit’s efforts, consistent with the objectives of the Priority Package, to divert eligible low-level drug offenders (2 grams or less) away from traditional prosecution and into alternative programs. The attached report is submitted to the Council pursuant to that requirement. No action is required. The deadline for the first quarter report is April 1, 2021.
