PURPOSE: To fill the board of the Citizens’ Commission on Salaries of Elected Officials.
BACKGROUND: The Commission is charged with filing a schedule of salaries for elected officials with the Council and Auditor every two years, beginning no later than May 1, 2008, and no later than May 1 every two years thereafter. The Commission is comprised of ten members: one from each Council District, drawn by lot from the pool of registered voters; one at-large, drawn by lot from pool of registered voters: four nominated by the Executive representing (a) business, (b) legal, (c) organized labor, and (e) professional personnel management. Commissioners may serve two two-year terms. The first seed selected to serve in this capacity resigned. As second seed and expressing interest and ability to serve as District 4 Representative, this would be Christina Yu Wen Swadener’s first term on the Salary Commission.
