PURPOSE: Council’s approval to authorize the Executive to sign a professional services agreement with Kidder Mathews for Real Estate Brokerage and Consultation Services relating to the County’s planned leasing and acquisition of property.
BACKGROUND: The County is interested in buying a hotel property to use as a shelter for the homeless and transitional housing for refugees. Facilities and Fleet Department recommends hiring Kidder Mathews to manage the due diligence process of leasing and/or acquiring the property for the County. Kidder Mathews was instrumental in assisting King County in leasing and acquirement hotel type properties for use as homeless shelters. Contract amount is $120,000 plus $100,000 allowance for reimbursable sub-contractor cost through December 31, 2022. Funding will come from proceeds of the American Rescue Plan.
