Executive/Council Action Form (ECAF)
ITEM TITLE:
Title
Motion 22-494, approving Snohomish County Public Works Solid Waste Division Service Fee Schedule
body
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
ORIGINATOR: Lori Ericsson (White)
EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved by Ken Klein 11/17/22
PURPOSE: Approval of Motion updating the Solid Waste Service Fee Schedule
BACKGROUND: The Solid Waste Service Fee Schedule has not been updated since 2012. Solid Waste is concurrently proposing amendments to sections 7.35 and 7.41 of the Snohomish County Code that set minimum intermodal container weight standards for the residual reclamation waste (RRW) program. The fee schedule update sets a minimum container weight of 23 tons for RRW delivered to the intermodal yard. The rate of $65/ton stays the same, however, the code change establishes the minimum weight. Establishing a minimum weight will maximize intermodal container availability and save 620 containers per year. Additionally, increased rates for vactor disposal will cover both additional capital and operations costs of the facility. Request approval of the motion to amend the Solid Waste Service Fee Schedule for implementation on January 1, 2023.
