PURPOSE: RELATING TO TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR EXEMPT POSITIONS; AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 25-071
BACKGROUND: Ordinance 25-071 approved by Council on November 5, 2025 authorized the conversion of exempt positions to the 2026 classified / non-classified rate table. The formula for this conversion was a comparison on top step pay rate of the exempt position to top step pay rate on the classified / non-classified table. Contrary to other exempt positions, the Law Clerk/Bailiff classification is currently paid a single rate. Moving this classification to a pay range based on the top step has an effect of devaluing the classification. This proposed ordinance modifies the previously approved ordinance to transition the Law Clerk/Bailiff to pay grade 238. It also provides for individual step placement of current employees based on their tenure in the classification.
