PURPOSE: To release the remaining appropriation of conflict felony attorney fees conditioned in the Amended Ordinance 23-121, Budget Condition No. 2.

 

BACKGROUND: The 2024 Adopted budget for the Public Defense budget includes over $1 million for conflict felony attorney fees.  $700,000 of this appropriation is unrestricted without further action.  The remaining appropriation above $700,000 is conditioned and may not be expended until OPD submits a report to Council demonstrating the need for expenditures above $700,000. The report must include the actual to date expenditures on conflict felony attorney fees that have been incurred or paid.
