PURPOSE: Reappoint Public Advocate Gricelda Montes
BACKGROUND: Chapter 2.11 of the Snohomish County Code establishes the Office of the Public Advocate and the position of public advocate. The person serving in this role serves at the appointment by the County Council for a 2-year term. There is not a limit to the number of terms that a person may serve as the county’s public advocate. Gricelda Montes was originally appointed to the role of Public Advocate on November 15, 2022 (Motion 22-446), with her initial one-year term expiring November 15, 2023. Ms. Montes was reappointed on October 24, 2023 to a two-year term expiring November 15, 2025. This proposed motion would appointment Ms. Montes to a 2-year term to commence on November 16, 2025 and expire on November 15, 2027.
