PURPOSE: Executive signature on Commerce ERAP-2 Grant Agreement.
BACKGROUND: The County was awarded awarded $20,789,658 for the period 2/1/2022 through 6/30/2023 for eviction Rent Assistance Program 2.0 (ERAP-2) funding from the Washington State Department of Commerce.
These Department of Treasury funds (authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund), are being passed-through from the Department of Commerce with the intent to prevent evictions by providing payments for rental and utility assistance to households who have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 outbreak and are at risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Including in the grant is a a set-a-side for disadvantaged populations.
The ERAP-2 funds will be subcontracted, except for a portion for Human Services administration of the grant. The County will retain $40,000 for administration costs and the remaining $20,749,658 will be subcontracted to local nonprofit(s) to provide eligible activities to the target population.
