DEPARTMENT:  Public Works

ORIGINATOR:  Lori Ericsson

EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION:  Ken Klein 11/13/23

PURPOSE: Approval and execution of the Interlocal Agreement between Snohomish County and the City of Brier to Adjust the Brier City Limits as Part of the Swamp Creek Bridge 503 Replacement Project.

BACKGROUND: The Department of Public Works (PW) intends to replace Swamp Creek Bridge #503 on Locust Way between 228th St SW ad 226th Pl SW in unincorporated Snohomish County.  The current eastern edge of the City municipal boundary line runs along the western edge of the current Locust Way, County owned right-of-way. In order to complete the project the County will need to acquire approximately 45,228 square feet of real property within the municipal boundaries of the City.   Under this ILA the County and City agree to revise the City’s municipal boundary to line up with the new western edge of the right-of-way upon completion of the project. This action is authorized by RCW 35.21.790.
