PURPOSE: This motion would authorize the County Executive to sign an interagency agreement with the Department of Commerce to receive funds for the completion of required periodic comprehensive plan updates.
BACKGROUND: Snohomish County is required by the Washington State Growth Management Act (RCW 36.70A.130) to updates its comprehensive plan no later than December 31, 2024. The Washington State Department of Commerce has awarded Snohomish County $350,000 in grant funding during state fiscal year 2022 (July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023) to support the periodic update of the comprehensive plan. Under terms of the grant, Snohomish County is allowed to invoice for work completed after July 1, 2022. Council approval is needed to authorize the County Executive to sign an interagency agreement to receive these funds. These funds were included within the 2023 adopted budget.
