EXECUTIVE RECOMMENDATION: Approved
PURPOSE: Ongoing compliance with RCW 84.34, enacted by the state legislature to “maintain, preserve, conserve and otherwise continue in existence adequate open space lands for the production of food, fiber and forest crops, and to assure the use and enjoyment of natural resources and scenic beauty for the economic and social well-being of the state and its citizens” and that “assessment practices must be so designed as to permit the continued availability of open space lands for these purposes.”
BACKGROUND: Parcel recently purchased by applicants no longer meets the commercial agricultural income requirements for Open Space Farm & Agriculture and they seek reclassification under Open Space General - Agricultural Conservation for the 10.4642 acres for which application has been made. The current use and future intended use of this parcel as a subsistence farm conforms to the requirements of the Open Space General-Agricultural Conservation classification for assessment purposes.
