PURPOSE: Grant Award for 2025-2026 WASPC RSO Residency Verification Funding
BACKGROUND: The Washington State Legislature allocated $9.9 million dollars to law enforcement over the 2025-2027 biennium to verify the address and residency of all registered sex and kidnapping offenders under RCW 9A.44.130. The Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) is distributing funds by entering into performance-based agreements with one agency per County. *The award for Snohomish County provides funding for one County detective, one City of Everett detective and one County prosecutor. The total award is $284,916.57 and has no matching requirements. The award will provide the staff necessary to conduct face-to-face verification of registered sex offenders addresses at their place of residency and provide the prosecution component to ensure residency requirement violators are held accountable. *At this time, the Sheriff is requesting approval of the 2025-2026 WASPC Registered Sex Offender Address and Residency Verification Program grant award totaling $284,916.57.
