PURPOSE: CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION RELATING TO AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF COMMISSIONERS ON THE BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS OF SNOHOMISH COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 5
BACKGROUND: If a Fire District would like to increase their number of commissioners beyond three (3), RCW 52.14.015 outlines the process. Pursuant to RCW, the Board of Fire Commissioners in District 5 passed a resolution on March 22, 2021 requesting a special election to increase the number of commissioners. That resolution was submitted to the County Council and as detailed in RCW, the county council shall call a special election. The proportional costs of the special election are borne by the Fire District as indicated in RCW 29A.04.410. The special election must be called prior to the deadline of May 14th for placement on the August 3, 2021 primary.
